Terrified

Well let me just put it out there: IM PETRIFIED!!!!

I'm so scared to go home and have to face the "normal life" that is waiting out there.
I don't want to have to leave a place I have come to know as my home to go to a place that seems to far away, a place where positions and money are the deciding factor of if you are good enough.
A place that I used to call home and fit into so well.

Now I think of it as a place that is cold, materialistic and so very very dark.

But luckily for me I have a very bright light to lead me, His name is Jesus.
Even though sometimes it seems like he is so far from me and that he is nowhere to be found I know I can always rely on him.

Many times in the past week I have thought about what I'm gonna be doing with my life this year and I still honestly can't tell you. All I know is that I will try to live a life that is pleasing to my Father, not my father here on earth but one who is greater than him.

I hope that all of you, my friends, family and even those who I don't know will not be drawn into the cycle of "normal life" that the world provides for us, but that you would all rather go against the flow, swim upstream and not do what the world says is right.

With all my love and blessings

Welcome 2009

Hello friendly friend people.

Its so great that 2009 has finally rolled in.
Many of you have said that 2009 is gonna be a year of change, Change of your weight, change of wardrobe, change of personality etc etc...

But how many of us are willing to change our positions in Christ?
How willing are you to change your area of serving?
How about moving from the place you are comfortable to a place where you struggle?

How many of us are still serving in places that have become too comfortable?
Why is it that we cant move out of the place we are at now.

I will be coming home next weekend most probably.
I am looking forward to seeing you all very soon.

some funny quotes:
Jay Leno
Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average… which means, you have met your New Year's resolution.

Joey Adams
May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions!

May 2009 be a year that is full of happiness, love, joy and that God blesses you richly.

Much Love and many blessings.

ps I will probably see you before I put another entry up

Merry Christmas... or is it?

So its been like a month I know, I suck at updates.

Well its that time of the year again when people have gone crazy and over spent on presents that are used once or twice then left fogotten in a cupboard.
Yup you guessed it, its Christmas.

I love Christmas because its a time away from school, work etc.
Not this year it isn't... well not for me.

I have deicided to stay in Masoyi the entire time 'till next year when I go home.
Mainly for security reasons but also for personal reasons.

How many of you spent over R1000 this year on presents? How many of you spent more???

Now think of this: Every couple of minutes a baby is born, unwanted and unloved by a mother that bore it for about 9 months. That child then gets left somewhere to die. The child who we will Call "Peter" lives from house to house not knowing who his parents are.
Peter spends Chistmas alone for years on end and never really understands it all.
One day Peter will die... Now let me ask you this: Did you ever let Peter into your home to share a meal, give him a present over this blessed time we celebrate? Did you ever explain Christ's love for him?

I ask you a few favours this Christmas period:
1. Buy a toy(even if its small) for a needy child this year
2. Invite someone over that society has said isn't worthy of anything
3. Tell all your family how much you love them all(You dont have to like them, But we MUST love them)
4. Share Christ's story with atleast one person you dont know
5. Pray for those less fortunate than ourselves
6. Pray for those who travell during this time that they arrive at all destinations safely
7. Pray for those that wont see family yet again this Christmas
8. Pray for security here at Hands Village and all over the country
9. Show people Christ through your actions
10. Be safe and responsible this festive season

May God bless you all richly in this time of giving.
Remember, its not all about the presents.

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year

Lotsa angry elephants!!!!

So this weekend we went camping.
its was a very last minute thing that I hopped onto.

On Friday night we went to a place called "Merry Pebbles" in Sabie.
it was very beautiful, but it was raining so it almost sucked.
We started braaing only at like 11:30 or so.
While doing that I put in a cd sop we had some music. Paul started rocking out to it and slipped down the hill and bailed into the river, It was freaking hilarious, you had to be there.
We only ate at like 3am or so, was just awesome.

On saturday we went to the Kruger National Park.
it was just so beautiful because it was so green and lush.
we stayed the night there and decided to drive around in the morning.
we spotted a few buffalo, lotsa impala and a few others but the highlites were:
5 wild dogs, a rare sighting at the park.
1 Goliath Heron catching a fish, very amazing.
+-150 buffalo crossing a road in front of us, beautiful.
1 dead impala in a tree, a Leopard must have put it there.
A herd of Elephant crossing the road in front of us, we tried to get through them but it didn't work.
one of the oloder ones blew his trumpet and shook his head which was really cool.
A slightly smaller, half grown, 3 ton or so elephant decided to get feisty with us and actually charged the car I was in.
I almost freaked out!

thinking back on it all, it was one of the best weekends I have had in ages.

With lots of love and many blessings

Helo ppl

Hi people

Yes it's been ages since I've sent anything home so I decided to say hi.

Well its been a pretty busy period yet again but life is still going on well.
I got a bit of a concussion on sunday playing soccer.
David and I hit each other pretty hard going for the ball, but we are both ok luckily.
I actually dunno what to say cause im feeling rather slow.

Well South Africa beat Wales now 20 points to 15 in rugby, but wales deserved the win.

So a date has been set for me to come home, or is it go home( im a bit confused)
I will get back to Johannesburg on the 20th of January 2009.

Please pray for wisdom, courage and strength for us all as we face this last stretch of 2008.
pray for security on the Hands village, ASM property and for the Lodge up the road.
Please pray for me as I start looking to find a place in a University next year.

Many blessings and lots of love
Callan

Liberty teens song

This is a song that a couple of teenagers from Liberty church wrote while in Masoyi.
I hope that it touches your heart as it did many of the people here including mine.

I was sitting in Masoyi on the porch on a hot summer’s evening
There’s a poker game going on inside but I don’t get the meaning
Been working hard all day with the sun beaming down on me
My eyes are now open and now I see

I see
They don’t have much but they have enough
I see
The way they live is pretty tough
I see
They have faith in God not stuff
I see

The day is now over but the battle rages on
As my eyes grow heavy I think of the work I’ve done
The world didn’t change today but I understand
Every little action is part of God’s great plan

I see
They don’t have much but they have enough
I see
The way they live is pretty tough
I see
They have faith in God not stuff
I see

And it makes me wonder
Who is the real me?
But as I close my eyes to pray
I see
